Hugs for Heroes

Elizabeth Laird volunteered at the Salvation Army when she received a hug from a United States soldier. As she received the hug, her eyes were drawn to the other soldiers looking on close by. Her heart just found its mission: to hug as many soldiers going off to war as possible. It’s been more than a decade since that hug, but Elizabeth is now the official greeter at Fort Hood. A veteran, she knows what a hug means. People call her a hero, but she doesn’t see it that way. Wish there were more people like her in the world…
